Services

The backbone of TIVIT’s activities is the business-driven research programmes. TIVIT’s role is to design new programmes – as well as oversee the projects that are already underway. Before research programmes are launched in the area to be researched, a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) – covering about four years – is drawn-up and made public. The results of an actual programme’s research flow directly for immediate use by the project partners – while TIVIT also keeps a register of these results. Part of the results is reserved only to be used by the participants themselves, but the other results are published by TIVIT on its electronic media.

One key role TIVIT fulfils is that of increasing the pace at which ideas and innovations reach the market as concrete products and services. Taking advantage of the results of research, there are also the company-driven projects aiming to develop business practice – which also seek to support the very content of the research topics. In these projects businesses both develop and try out new business-practice concepts. The business practice concepts which have been found as beneficial can then be taken by the project’s participants, commercialised and scaled to the needs of the world’s markets.

TIVIT aims for the international cutting edge in everything that it does – with carefully selected international project-coordinating services further supporting this aim. As TIVIT actively seeks to increase its profile – most visibly in its efforts to be at the very heart of EU-China partnership – the companies involved in its projects gain even greater clout and influence on key international markets.

Another exciting new TIVIT service programme is that of the service-creating laboratory called Forge, and will be launched in 2012. Its aims are threefold: to increase the pace of research and creation of ICT-based services, to further broaden the pool of those who benefit from the results of research and also to create a channel to realise those services in cloud computing environments which are innovative, rely on know-how and also bring added value.
