20.12.2008NSF Offers Funding Opportunities to FinnsOne of the most prestigious American research funding groups, The Science Foundation (NSF), has opened the Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE) funding programme. This programme aims to promote the opportunity of US Research groups to, firstly, create international-cooperation relationships and, secondly, to participate in international projects at the forefront of the science world.
The PIRE programme also seeks to look for new forms of cooperation in both international research and education. With the help of PIRE-funding, Finnish research groups can find themselves a partner group in the US. The application process for NSF closes on 26.2.2009.

10.12.2008Planning for Next Year UnderwayEveryone Challenged to Make a Difference!
The Foresight seminar is like the shot from a starting pistol not only in terms of creating new SRAs but also in terms of second year plans for the four programmes already underway. It is hoped that all interested parties will be actively involved in changing the future by taking an active part in the planning process.
Applications for the four programmes already underway need to be submitted in March or April 2009.
The decision to go ahead with the potential new SRAs depends on both whether sufficient interest is found and also whether the topic would be better suited to a Tekes Programme or a Tivit SRA. All parties concerned will seek to make this decision before summer 2009 and we will seek to begin the new programmes in January 2009.
If you are interested then we would like to ask you to contact either the managers at Tivit or the leaders of the SRA in question:
